HCC’s book program provides students with cost-effective and easily accessible course textbooks. Students will incur a fee of $20 per credit hour for course textbooks and materials. Most courses utilize digital content through the Canvas classroom using RedShelf Course Materials. Some courses require physical textbooks to be mailed to the student. Communication will be sent to students who need to place a Bookstore order for mailed materials. Some courses require supplemental or consumable materials. The cost of these items will be added to the course as an additional fee. These materials will be distributed through RedShelf or by HCC email after classes begin.
1. Purchase through the Campus Bookstore
2. Access eBooks Through RedShelf
Many HCC Online classes utilize digital material through RedShelf. eBook access is available through the Canvas classroom. The RedShelf eReader is a streaming platform that creates an accessible, engaging, and interactive reading experience. You can do so much more than just read the material! The eReader allows you to enhance your eBook and study tasks by highlighting, taking notes, creating a study guide and flashcards, and listening to the eBook using text to speech tools.
RedShelf makes your online reading experience effortless through various navigation features. You can use them to skim, search, and jump around your eBook. You can also add bookmarks to your eBook.
Are you having problems accessing your eBook? RedShelf Solve provides 24/7 technical support through their website and ticket system. If you are receiving an error code, Forbidden/CSRF Error, or Enabling Cookies message you need to clear your browser cache or change a setting on your Internet browser. These articles review these problems and how to quickly resolve them. If you are unable to resolve the problem, you should submit a ticket with their online platform.
