HIGHLAND, KS – Highland Community College (HCC) proudly hosted the Kansas Association of Community Colleges (KACC) meeting from May 29 to May 31, 2025, bringing together trustees and presidents from all 19 community colleges across the state.
Held on HCC's Atchison Campus, the multi-day event focused on collaborative dialogue and strategic planning to strengthen the future of community colleges in Kansas. Attendees participated in sessions covering legislative updates, innovations in workforce education, student success initiatives and shared governance.
“Hosting this important meeting highlights Highland’s ongoing commitment to educational leadership and regional cooperation,” said Dr. Vincent Bowhay, President of Highland Community College. “Bringing together trustees and presidents from across Kansas allows us to align our goals and advocate with a unified voice for the students and communities we serve.”
The Kansas Association of Community Colleges serves as a collective voice for community college governance and administration in the state. The association plays a key role in policy development, advocacy and resource sharing among Kansas's community colleges.
Highland Community College, the oldest college in Kansas founded in 1858, continues to serve as a vital resource for accessible, high-quality education across northeast Kansas and beyond.
